!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! post got me thining, if I were worried about my paint job, how would I protect it? I've seen people use painters tape, this got me thinking, perhaps a temporary coat of plastidip would be a great way to protect the paint underneath? Paint a "bra" on the front of the car and get some paint on the panels directly behind tires. I am told plastidip will peel right off once you are done with it.

Yeah, plastidip would be great for this if it's not a regular thing. You'll be using a pretty large amount of plastidip to protect the front of your car, and it's gonna need 5 coats to actually protect it. Eventually the cost will add up, but as long as this isn't a weekly thing for you it'll be great.

Yeah, I guess my next hurdle is fine dust that my filters dont catch and make a mess of my interior.

I think it would be so much fun and be very funny to take my '10 SHO to a Rally X event.

That sounds like a really fun time! If you have a gopro you have to get some footage for us

This gives me the idea to plasti-dip my plastic bumper so I don't have to keep repainting it (badly)...

Yeah it sounds like a really fun time to me too. I'd have to enter it in an AWD class, haha.

Yes, a few coats of plastidip would certainly help. It would be expensive to put on and take off every time though, I would plan on doing it in a way you could leave it for the whole season... maybe just use a color close to your paint color so it's not annoying or something that looks good in contrast.

My biggest issue is the dirt inside the car usually. All the little pressure release ducts and cabin intake end up packing up with dust after a few good trips. I was able to way down on it, but even getting in and out of the car drags a lot of dirt/mud in. Eventually I just gave up and started using clunkers for rally x and stuck to autocross with my nicer cars.

Haha I just think my landbarge of a '10 SHO would be hilarious on an Rally-x course. If I really enjoy I could go for a clunker after that, but I'd like to say I used a SHO to do Rally X, haha. Maybe it'd do decent, hah, it has gobs of power and AWD. On the other hand it seems some lower-powered FWD cars do quite well.

I took an Oldsmobile Delta 88 out into a field for our own spur of the moment rally x. Now that was a boat. I don't remember what year it was, but I know it was a 400 in it, so it must have been mid to late 60s.

Didn't look nearly this nice, but about this size and color:
